The New 2021 Palisade

Although the Hyundai Palisade has only been in the market for two model years, it has already won quite a following. Credit is due to its three-row layout and amount of interior space that belies its midsize crossover classification; indeed, it rivals many a full-sized SUV with its overall refinement. The 2021 Hyundai Palisade marks the nameplate’s second consecutive model year, and it is split into the following trim levels:

SE: The powertrain on the 2021 Hyundai Palisade combines a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The V6 ensures brisk acceleration, and the automatic gearbox delivers smooth shifts. The engine sends power to the front wheels, and the SUV can be equipped to tow up to 5,000 lbs. There’s the option of going with an all-wheel drivetrain so that traction performance is maximized on slippery surfaces. With its three rows of seats, the SE model can accommodate up to eight people, and the vehicle’s passenger volume of 155.3 cubic feet makes it among the roomiest entries in its class. Worthy of mention is the Rear Seat Quiet Mode feature, which enables you to mute the speakers and consequently make the atmosphere serene for rear-seat passengers. For secure access, the vehicle comes with a remote keyless entry system. The infotainment on this SUV consists of the following:
• Six speakers
• AM/FM radio with HD Radio technology
• Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration
• Five USB ports
• 8-inch touchscreen
Driver assistance on the vehicle comes from the following technologies:
• Adaptive cruise control for automatically setting a safe driving distance between you and the vehicle in front of you
• Driver attention warning for alerting you to take a break from driving if drowsiness or irregular driving is detected
• Forward collision assist to warn you of an impending front-end collision and apply stopping power if needed
• Lane following assist to automatically operate the steering wheel to drive in the center of the intended lane of travel
• Lane keeping assist to provide automatic steering or braking to keep you in your intended lane of travel
• Rearview camera with rear parking sensors for monitoring your parking maneuvers
Seven airbags—a driver’s knee airbag, two frontal impact airbags, two front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and two roof-mounted side curtain airbags—are present to provide restraint and cushioning if there’s ever a crash.
SEL: Starting from the SEL trim, Hyuandi makes the Palisade a seven-seater due to the swap of the second-row bench-style seat with a pair of captain’s chairs. Seating and driving accommodations are also enhanced by the appearance of leather wrapping replacing the urethane on the steering wheel, heating ability for the front seats, and eight-way power adjustability on the driver’s seat. Hyundai adds a sunroof for letting in air and light when needed. For access, the remote keyless entry system is upgraded to a proximity keyless entry system with push-button engine start. The dual-zone automatic climate control system is upgraded to a tri-zone one to grant rear-seat passengers—in addition to the driver and front-seat passenger—customization ability. The rearview mirror gains auto-dimming ability and a garage-door opener, and driver assistance is enhanced with the addition of a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert.
LIMITED: At the Limited trim level, Hyundai enhances the Palisade with Nappa leather seat trim, extension of eight-way power adjustability to the front passenger seat, driver’s seat memory, steering-wheel heating, rear-seat heating and cooling, and front-seat cooling. For convenience and comfortability, Hyundai adds a hands-free smart liftgate and dual panels for the sunroof. Infotainment gets a major boost with the following enhancements and additions:
• 10.25-inch touchscreen (in place of the 8-inch one)
• Wireless charging ability
• Third-row USB ports (to bring the grand total to seven)
• Trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio
• Navigation system
• 12-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system (which replaces the six-speaker setup)
Also receiving a major boost is driver assistance; enhancements and additions include:
• Surround-view camera (in place of the rearview one)
• Front parking sensors (in addition to the rear parking ones)
• Ultrasonic rear occupant alert
• Highway drive assist
CALLIGRAPHY: The Calligraphy is the latest trim level; it displaces the Limited as the top-of-the-line trim. While other trims are front-wheel-drive vehicles with the option of all-wheel drive, the Calligraphy comes with all-wheel drive as standard (with no option of front-wheel drive) It also stands out with the following:
• Front and rear skid plates
• Rear accent lighting
• Side-door garnishes
• Quilted leather-door panels
